Winter Street Gallery and Penske Projects are pleased to present Haptic Encounters, an exhibition that delves into the connection between humans and their tactile experiences, bringing to life the often-overlooked interactions that shape our understanding of the world. On view from August 17 to 27, the exhibition features a diverse collection of paintings by eight international artists that capture the essence of touch, exploring how physical interaction with objects and environments influences perception and emotion.
The selected works present an intriguing mix of everyday moments as well as deeper associations, each piece inviting viewers to bear witness to the tactile elements depicted. From the delicate grasp of a hand on a doorknob to the intimate connection of feet on the bed, the paintings convey the sensory richness of human experience. These moments of contact are not merely physical but also imbued with layers of meaning and emotion, revealing the intricate tapestry of human experience.
